Dog kennel

Today we started the day with a Wilson game -Hula Hoop Amoeba. Our group came 2nd. Next we did  our student voice survey.  We did that so we could tell Darryn, Alana and Katie ways they could change Enrich for next year. After that, we did passion time. I continued with the dog kennel and I finished the dog kennel!!! Well I didn't finish in passion time, I finished it in the afternoon. But still I finished it!!! Here are some pictures of it. Dog kennel

Today we started the day with a Wilson game called All or Nothing. Darryn's team won all three games. Next we did passion time and I continued sketching my dog kennel. I showed Darryn my sketch. But he changed my sketch completley. Next week I am going to build the dog kennel.

First day back

Today is the first day back at Enrich for term four.  First we did the roll then we talked about sustainability.  There is different kinds of sustainablity: Environmental, Economic, Social and Cultural. Then we had morning tea. After morning tea we did a technology challenge, our group lost. Then we did chess, I lost against Jacob. I am going to do passion time. I am going to continue on with clay sculpting, I am not sure what I am going to make.

Week10 Term 3

Today at enrich we started the day with chess I played agenst two people.I played agenst Wilson and Robert I lost when I played agenst Wilson. It was a tie when I played agenst Robert. Next we did passion time I did clay anamacion here is a photo of it:

Week 9 Term 3

Today we started the day with chess I played against two people. Luca and Amy, when I played against Luca I lost. When I played against Amy it was a tie. Next we did our enviroment projects. I am working with Samaria and Madeleine. We worked on our Keynote today to present to the ILT.  Samaria is going to speak for our group, so she practiced what she was going to say. Next it was morning tea We played a Wilson game called Piccadilly Circus.  You had to stand in a circle and someone would give a ball to you.  You had to then run and give it to another person and sit in their place.  You weren't allowed to give the ball to the person right beside you. Then it was lunch time! Now that I've done my blog post, I'm going to do passion time.  Today I'm continuing with clay sculpting.

Term 3 week 8

Today we started the day with chess, I played against Alex, I lost!!! Next we did environment projects, I am doing a giant chess board. Next we had morning tea.
We did more of my environment project then it was lunch! See you next week!!!

Science project

Today we started the day with chess, I versed Jonn. I lost! Next we did Environment projects. I have been working on putting a giant chess board in Wachner Place. Next we did high intrest stations. I did science with Katie.  We had different materials to make our own parachute.  We got to use six plastic bags, one little sheet of cardboard in a rectangle shape, and as much big pieces of thick paper cardboard as we wanted.  We used a polystyrene cup and egg and skewers.  Mine stayed up the longest, and the egg survived!

Wednesday

Today at Enrich we started the day with chess. I played against Robert. It was a stalemate. I am going to play against him again. Later on we did high interest stations. I chose science with Katie. We neded to make a parachute with different materials. Here is a photo of mine and Lewis.

Dinoscoping

Today we started the day with leader board chess. I played against Nathan. I lost. I am still at the same  place on the leader board. Next we did high interest stations. I did biology and we used Comic Life.  On Comic Life we used the pictures we had taken of the fly with the dinoscope. Here is mine:

Term 3 Week 4

Today we started the day with chess. I played against Nathan, we didn't get to finish the game. I would of won if the music hadn't gone off . Then we went to Wachner Place to look at what wall to put murals on and a space to put a giant chess board on.

Term 3 week 3

Today is the first of August 2012.  We played chess this morning.  I played Caleb and I lost!  Next I did some more tessellations with Darryn.  I kept working on my seal, but I didn't quite get finished.  I enjoyed testing myself because tessellations are hard!  After morning tea we spent some time talking about our environment projects.  We have decided that our group want to work on making Wachner Place more fun.  We want to put a giant chess set there for people to play with.  We might also do a mural because there are blank stone walls there.

Environmet

Today a lady called Anastazia came from Environment Southland  to talk about  the environment, mostly she talked about The Waihopai River and all the dirt and pollution that is getting in to it and how we could help fix it. She also told us about Seaward bush and the pest animals and plants in there and how we could help it if that was what we wanted to do. I want to do something to help clean up the Waihopai River and we have to decide what we are going to do this week and let the teachers know next week.

First day for Term 3

Today is the first day of term three at Enrich. This morning we got to choose what you wanted to do. There were three choices:  Science with Jenny - they made Elephant Toothpaste, Art with Katie - they did painting, or Maths with Darryn - we did tessellations.  When you make tessellations, you need to choose a pattern and you need to join them together so there are no more gaps and you need to choose two different colours for the pictures in your pattern. I chose to draw a seal.  I am probably going to colour it red and green.  I will finish this next week and I will take a photo to show you.

Last Wednesday of term two

Today is the last Wednesday of term two. We have played a Wilson game where you need to get into a hoop with three other people and you need to keep your feet together while you hold hands.  The thing that made it hard, was if you stood on the edge of the hoop or moved the hoop you had to go back to the start! 

Today at Enrich

Today at Enrich in the morning we did talent development.  During morning tea I played dodge ball.  After morning tea we did the Habits of Mind.  Some that we learnt about were striving for accuracy, applying past knowledge to new situations and gathering data through all senses.

Canstruction

Today I am doing canstruction, here is a picture of what I did today.

We have worked out how many of each colour cans we will need.  We still need to find out how much the budget cans and the orange cans are.

Term 1 reflection

This is what I have done this term. Here is a picture of how I felt, wondered, What I tried tried learned and used. This term I have enjoyed learning about perspectives and we went on a trip around town to look at some interesting perspectives. I have also made some new friends at enrich this term.

Today I have been doing build a pyramid logic and problem solving. It involved some construction, here is a picture of it.  We played a Wilson game called Pegosaurus. I played a game of  chess I lost. 
We did Scamper this is what scamper means- S= Substitute C=combine A= alter M= mega/mini P= put to other uses E= eliminate R= reverse.   

Kiaora Reid

I am impressed with the way you are gaining confidence in contributing your ideas in lots of areas of your day at Enrich.  Our debating session has been a perfect example of this.  During our first session of maths talent development I loved your enthusiasm, our project is going to outstanding!  I am looking forward to deciding on an object for our canstruction!

Chess

In chess this morning I was at the top of the leader board and I played against Darryn.  I lost.  It made me sad!  Now Darryn is at the top of the leader board!  


This afternoon I did P4C, we talked about whether the word 'because' is an ok answer to a question.  I don't think it is an OK answer because it is not very interesting.


For my picks today I have done science.  It was an experiment about how far a toy car could go down a ramp with and without a chunk of blue tack on top.  My hypothesis was that it would go further with blue tack, my prediction was correct!

Perspective field trip

At Enrich we are learning about perspectives.  We have gone on a field trip to learn about different perspectives.  The places we went to were: The water tower, a church and the art gallery. My highlight was climbing up the water tower. I have learnt that a perspective is the different views of things.  Some photography perspectives are: worms eye view, birds eye view, mouse eye view and our view!
